The GX-270 D-SS features a direct-drive capstan motor and a three-head design for recording, playback, and erasing. It has auto-reverse functionality, allowing the tape to automatically switch directions at the end of a reel. The reel size supported is 7 inches and the tape speeds are 3¾ and 7½ inches per second. The unit also includes built-in stereo speakers for monitoring purposes.
