The Apple iPod 3, also known as the iPod third generation, was released in April 2003. It featured a more compact design compared to its predecessors, a touch-sensitive scroll wheel, and was available in 10GB and 15GB storage options. It introduced the 'Dock Connector' for accessory compatibility and was one of the first iPods to have a FireWire port for faster data transfer. The interface was upgraded to allow for album artwork and the player supported MP3, AAC, and WAV formats.
