Bluetooth Headphone Vulnerability Raises Security Concerns

Researchers identified critical vulnerabilities in Bluetooth System-on-Chips (SoCs) from Airoha Technology affecting headphones and earbuds from major brands including Sony, Bose, and JBL.
The RACE protocol, used for diagnostics and firmware updates, can be exploited over Bluetooth interfaces without proper authentication, exposing devices to potential attacks.
Vulnerabilities allow attackers within Bluetooth range to access device memory, intercept recordings, issue smartphone commands, and eavesdrop on conversations.
