The C.E.C. DA 53 is a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that features a compact aluminum enclosure designed for versatility and high audio quality. It employs a combination of current injection and LEF (Load Effect Free) Single Ended Class A technology, allowing for enhanced sound reproduction without dynamic distortions. The unit supports various digital input options including USB, AES/EBU, RCA, and Toslink, with specific sampling rate capabilities: USB (up to 48kHz), RCA and AES/EBU (up to 192kHz), and Toslink (up to 96kHz). The internal circuitry is built around high-quality Burr-Brown PCM1796 DACs, ensuring low distortion and high dynamic range. The frequency response of the C.E.C. DA 53 spans from 20Hz to 20kHz with minimal deviation, and it has a signal-to-noise ratio of 125dB for XLR outputs and 102dB for RCA outputs. The device also includes a headphone amplifier section, although its performance is noted to be slightly less dynamic compared to dedicated headphone amplifiers. With adjustable output levels, the DA 53 provides both fixed and variable output voltages, making it adaptable to various audio configurations. Additionally, the USB input operates without requiring extra sound cards or drivers, allowing for straightforward connectivity to computers while ensuring a smooth audio output from digital sources.
