The Hitachi D-4500 is a cassette tape deck manufactured between 1973 and 1976, primarily designed for the Japanese market. It features a robust silver and black exterior with a stylish wooden cabinet. This model utilizes a unique combination/sandwich head configuration, which was a significant innovation at the time, setting a standard for 3-head cassette decks. The device is equipped with a 3-motor dual-capstan mechanism, where one motor is dedicated to the capstan, while the other two are used for fast winding. The D-4500 boasts exceptional performance metrics, including a low wow and flutter figure of 0.045%, frequency response of up to 20 kHz with chrome tapes, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 63 dB when using Dolby noise reduction. Its main features include multiple inputs and outputs, with various connection types such as microphone, line in, line out, and headphones. The cassette deck can handle different tape types and includes a Dolby noise reduction system and a Dolby Calibration Control System (DCCS) for optimal performance. An optional RB-1000 wired remote control is available for added convenience. The dimensions of the D-4500 are 441 x 222 x 312 mm, and it weighs 12 kg, consuming 40 watts of power during operation.
