The Hitachi HT-60 S is a direct drive record player that was manufactured between 1980 and 1981 in Japan. It features a quartz-controlled drive system dubbed 'Unitorque' which offers two speeds: 33 and 45 RPM. The turntable is constructed from die-cast aluminum alloy with a diameter of 310 mm. The HT-60 S operates fully automatically, equipped with a jog switch and a limit switch that utilizes a photo sensor. It also includes an Up/Down button for the arm lifter, enhancing user convenience. The tonearm is lightweight, accommodates an ADC mount with a half-inch fitting, and has a gimbaled design that includes anti-skating functionality. The overall dimensions of the unit are 435 mm in width, 110 mm in height, and 365 mm in depth, weighing in at a considerable amount, contributing to its stability. The output connections are comprised of two RCA connectors (left and right) and a ground cable, while the input connection is a power cable. The rumble noise level is rated at 78 dB (DIN B), and the synchronisation fluctuations are measured at 0.05% (DIN). The original price for the HT-60 S was approximately 498 DM, placing it in a competitive segment during its time.
