The Luxman E-06 is a dedicated phono amplifier that was released in December 1987, priced at ¥ 260,000. It aims to achieve high-quality sound reproduction by functioning as an independent component. The E-06 features a hand-wound MC transformer designed by a specialist who previously worked on the MB300 output transformer. Extensive testing and trials were conducted with over 100 prototypes, ensuring that parameters such as wire diameter, core material, and shielding are thoroughly optimized. The amplifier is equipped with four dedicated transformers, two types with different boosting ratios for each channel. A balanced input option is also available for improved performance with delicate MC lines. The equalizer circuit utilizes a fundamentally improved flat amplifier in both the first and second stages, using CR-type technology to ensure high sound quality. Additionally, a 32-point altimemate attenuator enhances the volume control system, allowing fine adjustments in 0.5 dB steps. The circuit includes features like independent left/right operations, constant-voltage power supplies, and uses PC-OCC wiring material. Other design elements focus on sound quality, including non-magnetic chassis, rigid wooden cabinets, and a line-phase sensor that optimizes system polarity. Specifications include input terminals for MC and MM cartridges, a range of input sensitivities, gain levels, and a total harmonic distortion of 0.005% or less for MM inputs. The frequency response spans from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with an RIAA deviation of ± 0.2 dB or less. The device measures 460 x 120 x 408 mm and weighs 10 kg.
