The McIntosh C55 is a high-end 2-channel solid-state preamplifier that serves as a central hub for audio systems. Its architecture is designed to elevate the audio experience by offering a wide range of connectivity options, including 16 inputs: 9 analog (comprising 3 balanced and 4 unbalanced) and 7 digital, along with 2 configurable phono inputs for Moving Coil or Moving Magnet cartridges. The preamplifier features advanced digital processing through the DA2 Digital Audio Module, capable of handling high-resolution audio files up to 24-bit/192kHz and DSD512. Additionally, the C55 includes a dedicated subwoofer output and three sets of variable outputs, enabling bi-amping and flexible system setups. The Processor Loop allows for the integration of external signal processors, while the option to control the unit via the McIntosh Connect app adds convenience for users. It also boasts features like an 8-band analog equalizer, a high-drive headphone amplifier, and various control ports for seamless system management.
