The McIntosh MC2KW is a monoblock amplifier designed for high-performance audio reproduction. It is capable of delivering a continuous power output of 2,000 watts and a peak power output of 8,000 watts into 2, 4, or 8-ohm speakers, making it suitable for both music and home theater applications. The unique design consists of three distinct modules: two 1,000 watt power modules which each contain half of the amplifier's circuitry and associated power supply, and an output module that functions as the control center with input and output connections, a watt meter, and an output transformer. McIntosh's Quad Balanced circuitry design is employed to minimize noise and distortion in the audio signal, preserving the integrity of the sound even at high amplification levels. Additionally, the MC2KW features multiple protective technologies such as the Autoformer that ensures consistent power delivery regardless of speaker impedance, and Power Guard® which prevents clipping to protect the speakers. The amplifier provides three sets of speaker connections for tri-wiring setups, and offers both balanced and unbalanced inputs for flexible system integration. The chassis is made from polished stainless steel and includes the iconic blue watt meter that adds both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
