The McIntosh MC40 is a classic mono vacuum tube amplifier that was produced from 1962 to 1969. It delivers a power output of 40 watts per channel. The amplifier uses a variety of vacuum tubes for its operation, including a 12AX7 for the preamplifier stage, a 12AU7A as the phase inverter, a 12BH7 as the driver tube, and another 12AX7 functioning as the cathode follower. The output stage utilizes either two 6L6GC tubes or 7027A tubes. This model is often celebrated for its vintage appeal and sound quality, making it a sought-after piece among audiophiles.
