The McIntosh MC7300 is a stereo power amplifier released in September 1991. With a design that boasts an output of 300W per channel at 2, 4, or 8 ohms, it delivers powerful and dynamic sound. The MC7300 has a newly engineered output transformer allowing it to handle loads efficiently, with the ability to sustain output current capacities exceeding 85A at peak. Its circuit design is based on the MC2600, featuring a balanced/unbalanced input along with a sensitivity selector switch allowing for 2.5V and 1.4V input options. The amplifier utilizes a symmetric amplification process beyond the pre-drive stage and an automatic tracking bias system which minimizes crossover distortion. It includes a gold-plated output terminal compatible with 6mm cables and incorporates a large, newly developed power meter that can simultaneously detect output voltage and current, updating approximately 10 times faster than traditional VU meters. The MC7300 is equipped with multiple protection systems, including a thermal cutoff for overheating and a Power Guard system that mitigates distortion by adjusting gain when distortion exceeds preset levels. With seven intricate safety mechanisms, it ensures secure operation and reliability.
