Cayin Launches the MT-35 Mk3: An Integrated Tube Amplifier with Modern Versatility

14 March 2025 by Mike Danyk

Cayin has unveiled the MT-35 Mk3, the latest iteration of its acclaimed integrated tube amplifier, blending classic tube technology with modern connectivity. This third-generation model retains the beloved linear RCA inputs while introducing Bluetooth 5.1 compatibility, allowing seamless wireless streaming from mobile devices. With support for high-fidelity codecs such as AAC, aptX HD, and LDAC, the MT-35 Mk3 ensures that digital music sources maintain their pristine quality.

Operating in Class A/B, the MT-35 Mk3 delivers a robust 2 x 36 watts of output power in its ultralinear mode, courtesy of four EL34 pentodes and dual-stage preamplification using 12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes. The hand-wired point-to-point circuitry and custom-designed output transformers contribute to a balanced and nuanced sound profile, favored by discerning listeners. Additionally, the amplifier features a flexible bias adjustment for each output tube, enhancing its tonal versatility.

The front panel of the MT-35 Mk3 is thoughtfully designed with a centrally placed, illuminated VU meter that not only adds a retro aesthetic but also serves as a bias indicator for the output tubes. A detachable metal grille protects the seven glass envelopes while allowing clear visibility of the tubes' operation. Users can switch between ultralinear and triode modes, with the latter offering a more delicate and pure sound at 2 x 18 watts, catering to those who prioritize tonal refinement.

Connectivity options are ample, featuring three analog RCA inputs and a dedicated headphone jack compatible with impedances ranging from 16 to 300 ohms. The amplifier also provides separate binding posts for 4 and 8-ohm speakers, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of audio systems. Tube rolling is supported, allowing enthusiasts to experiment with alternatives like 6CA7, 6L6, or 5881 tubes to further tailor the sound to their preferences.

Scheduled for release in Europe in March 2025, the Cayin MT-35 Mk3 will be available in a silver front variant, followed by a black version in April. Priced at a competitive €1,599, the MT-35 Mk3 is positioned as an attractive option for audiophiles seeking a harmonious blend of vintage tube warmth and contemporary functionality.
