Focal's Utopia Cinema series debuts with the LCR speaker and Subwoofer, aiming for professional-grade home theater sound.
Utopia Cinema LCR features a beryllium tweeter, midrange driver, and 13-inch woofer for high SPL and precise audio.
Utopia Cinema Sub delivers deep bass down to 19 Hz with dual 13-inch drivers and distortion-minimizing design.
Focal has just unveiled their new Utopia Cinema series at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) exhibition in Barcelona, and it's causing quite a stir among home theater enthusiasts. The lineup includes the Utopia Cinema LCR, a three-way loudspeaker, and the Utopia Cinema Sub, a passive subwoofer equipped with dual 13-inch drivers. Both are designed to elevate the home cinema experience to professional studio levels.
The Utopia Cinema LCR is engineered for high sound pressure levels (SPL) without compromising on detail. It features a 1.5-inch M-shaped beryllium tweeter that promises exceptional transient response and precise high-frequency reproduction. This is complemented by a 5-inch midrange driver that delivers impressive dynamic range and clarity. For the low end, there's a 13-inch long-throw woofer with a W-shaped cone. The speaker also offers flexible crossover settings, allowing optimal performance whether it's used as a left, center, or right channel.
On the bass front, the Utopia Cinema Sub is tuned down to 19 Hz to provide deep, impactful lows. It's equipped with two 13-inch long-throw drivers and a large front-facing bass reflex port designed to minimize distortion, even at maximum SPLs. The robust cabinet construction ensures it can handle the demands of high-level playback, making those cinematic effects and musical lows truly immersive.
These new additions are intended for rooms up to 200 square meters, making them suitable for sizeable dedicated home theaters. The design allows for seamless integration into multichannel systems, enhancing both film soundtracks and music playback.
Both models are slated for release in September 2025. The Utopia Cinema LCR will carry a price tag of $11,999 USD per unit, while the Utopia Cinema Sub will be priced at $5,999 USD. It's a significant investment, but for those looking to replicate a professional cinema experience at home, these might just be the components to do it.
