Sennheiser introduces the HD 550, a new wired over-ear headphone tailored for both music enthusiasts and gamers. Weighing just 237 grams, the HD 550 is designed for extended listening sessions without causing fatigue. Its open design, enhanced by a newly developed acoustic fabric, ensures that sound travels directly to the ears while maintaining natural soundstage and clarity.
At the heart of the HD 550 lies a 38-millimeter dynamic driver, meticulously crafted in Sennheiser’s Tullamore factory in Ireland. This driver supports a wide frequency range of 6 Hz to 39.5 kHz and maintains a low distortion rate of under 0.2%, promising exceptionally clear and detailed audio performance. With an impedance of 150 Ohm, the HD 550 seamlessly integrates with various HiFi setups, delivering a balanced sound with deep bass, neutral mids, and crisp highs.
The modular construction of the HD 550 offers flexibility and longevity. Users can easily swap out cables and ear pads, allowing for customization and prolonged use. The package includes a 1.8-meter cable with a 3.5-millimeter stereo jack and a 6.35-millimeter adapter, facilitating connections to a wide range of devices. Additional cables compatible with symmetric sources and microphone-enabled jacks are available separately, enhancing the headphone’s versatility.
Comfort remains a priority with the HD 550. The headband features a soft texture, and the metal mesh ear cups are designed to be breathable, ensuring comfort during long gaming sessions or marathon music listening. Although the HD 550 lacks an integrated microphone, it stands out as an excellent choice for single-player gaming experiences where audio precision and minimal latency are crucial.
Set to be available in the German market starting the first week of April 2025, the Sennheiser HD 550 is priced at €299.90. This release solidifies Sennheiser’s commitment to delivering high-fidelity audio solutions that cater to both audiophiles and gaming enthusiasts, combining technical excellence with user-centric design.
