Thorens has unveiled its latest flagship vinyl turntable, the TD 124 DD Exclusive, at the High End Show 2025 in Munich. Celebrating the company’s 140th anniversary, this model builds upon the acclaimed TD 124 DD, integrating advanced technologies with Thorens’ storied legacy to deliver exceptional audio fidelity and timeless elegance.
At the heart of the TD 124 DD Exclusive lies the 12-inch TP124 tonearm, an evolution of the original TP124 design. Enhanced with extended length to minimize tracking errors, it ensures reduced distortion and pristine sound reproduction. The turntable features a pure copper platter, which improves the acoustic connection with the vinyl and diminishes resonances, resulting in unparalleled accuracy. Internally, the use of high-purity silver wiring maintains signal clarity from the cartridge to the output, preserving every detail of the audio.
Equipped with the bespoke EMT Tondose 124 Exclusive cartridge, the TD 124 DD Exclusive sets a new standard for analog playback. This cartridge, developed in collaboration with EMT Tontechnik, boasts a ruby cantilever, Gyger-angled stylus, and pure gold coils, delivering superior channel separation, dynamic range, and detail. The direct drive motor provides robust torque and smooth operation, complemented by the linear TPN 124 power supply that ensures stable and clean electrical input.
The turntable’s construction features an aluminum chassis mounted on height-adjustable vibration-isolation feet, enhancing stability and minimizing external interference. Connectivity options include both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR outputs, catering to a wide range of audio setups. Limited to 140 units, the TD 124 DD Exclusive is a testament to Thorens’ commitment to quality and exclusivity, priced at €11,990 in Europe and set to become available in late summer 2025.
The TD 124 DD Exclusive not only honors Thorens’ rich heritage since its original debut in 1957 but also represents the pinnacle of modern turntable engineering. With its meticulous craftsmanship and high-end components, it is poised to meet the discerning demands of audiophiles seeking enduring performance and aesthetic excellence.
