The Onkyo C-7000R is a single-disc CD player that excels in both design and audio performance. It supports various disc formats, including standard Audio CDs and CD-R/CD-RW discs, as well as MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-R/RW discs. The player can recognize up to 99 folders and 499 files per MP3/WMA disc. Its silent disc mechanism is engineered for durability and reduced vibrations, utilizing a die-cast aluminum tray affixed to rigid brass supports. The chassis is designed to minimize resonance through separate aluminum panels, enhancing noise reduction. The C-7000R features side-mounted circuit board construction that isolates components from chassis vibrations, improving the performance of its digital and analog processing circuits.
The device incorporates dual TI Burr-Brown 24-bit/192kHz DACs, ensuring high-quality audio output, along with a thermally regulated super-precision clock that achieves remarkable frequency stability. To further enhance audio quality, the C-7000R employs PLL ultra-low jitter technology and VLSC for better waveform reproduction. Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry (DIDRC) is also included to minimize audible distortion from digital signals.
A front-panel LCD displays relevant disc and audio information, and the device features a variety of playback options, including direct track access, repeat playback, and random playback modes. In terms of connectivity, the C-7000R provides stereo RCA analog outputs, optical and coaxial digital outputs, and an AES/EBU balanced output. There is also a 1/4" headphone jack with independent volume control, allowing for direct headphone use without muting the audio outputs. The design also includes an auto standby function for energy efficiency.
