The Onkyo D-5 is a bookshelf loudspeaker that was manufactured between 1981 and 1982 in Japan. This three-way speaker system features a closed design, which helps to enhance its audio fidelity. It comprises three drivers: a 280 mm Deltaolefin cone woofer for the bass, a 100 mm Deltaolefin cone midrange driver, and a 25 mm dome tweeter for the high frequencies. The D-5 is capable of handling nominal power of 80 watts and up to 120 watts for music playback. It has an impressive efficiency of 91 dB/W/m, allowing for a dynamic sound output across its broad frequency response range of 33 Hz to 30 kHz. The transitional ranges are set at 700 Hz and 4,500 Hz, optimizing the sound quality as it transitions from bass to midrange and midrange to treble. The speaker system features a detachable front and includes level controls for midrange and treble, permitting customized sound settings based on listener preference. With an impedance of 6 ohms and a cabinet internal volume of approximately 50 liters, the D-5 is designed to produce a rich audio experience.
