The Onkyo D-77 is a bookshelf speaker system that is a part of the 77 series, marking its 9th generation iteration. It features a 3-way, 3-speaker design using a bass reflex system, catering to a wide frequency range from 25 Hz to 40,000 Hz. The system is equipped with a 30 cm cone type woofer designed for low frequencies, made from North American pulp combined with ascidian fiber, which enhances strength and durability. Its magnetic circuit utilizes a large 140 mm diameter magnet that is 17 mm thick, supported by a die-cast frame to ensure stable operation even at high amplitudes. A 12 cm cone type squaker is responsible for mid-range frequencies, optimized through a non-press manufacturing method to improve sound clarity. Additionally, a composite dome tweeter, combining aluminum magnesium alloy and bicycloscone, manages high frequencies. This unique design balances the characteristics of both hard dome and cone diaphragms while achieving high unit efficiency. The crossover components use high-quality WIMA film capacitors, and separate boards for each driver are employed to minimize interference. Housed in an enclosure made from MDF with exceptional vibration damping properties, the cabinet dimensions are 360 mm in width, 660 mm in height, and 380 mm in depth. This assembly contributes to a robust structure weighing 25 kg. The D-77 accommodates speaker cable connections of up to 6 mm in diameter and supports banana plugs. A speaker stand was also offered as a separate accessory, designed to minimize vibration interference.
