The Onkyo M-8000 is a stereo power amplifier that was released around 1978. It features a dual-channel design, incorporating two monaural amplifiers for each channel to improve dynamic characteristics. The M-8000 utilizes a semi-complementary service SEPP/OTL circuit, resulting in a compact and robust construction. It includes a direct reading type LR power meter that ranges from 0.01 to 100W, as well as a peak indicator with a range of -24 to 0dB. With a power output of 50W per channel (20 Hz to 20 kHz at 8 Ω load), it offers impressive performance for its class. Low harmonic distortion is achieved, boasting figures of 0.1% or less at rated output for 1 kHz, alongside a cross modulation distortion of the same level at SMPTE rated output. The amplifier's output bandwidth extends from 5 Hz to 30 kHz, while its frequency response ranges from 4 Hz to 100 kHz with a tolerance of +0 -1.5 dB. Input sensitivity is 1000mV with an input impedance of 50kΩ. The load impedance is specified at 8 Ω, with a damping factor of 50 (DC to 20 kHz). Additionally, the signal-to-noise ratio is rated at 110 dB or more, ensuring a high degree of audio clarity. The unit is housed in a metal case and shaped as a bookshelf unit, with external dimensions of 418 mm in width, 152 mm in height, and 274 mm in depth, weighing 10 kg.
