The Ortofon OD 2 is a moving magnet cartridge designed for a range of audio applications, particularly focusing on achieving high sound quality and reliability. It features an elliptical stylus, allowing for detailed playback of music across various genres. The OD 2 maintains a frequency response range of 20 Hz to 22 kHz and offers a channel separation of 22 dB at 1 kHz, ensuring a clear and distinct audio output. Its tracking ability is rated at 70 μm when tested at 315 Hz, enhancing performance on complex tracks. With a recommended tracking force set between 1.6 to 2.0 grams, the OD 2 performs optimally at 1.8 grams. It has a 20-degree tracking angle and a DC resistance of 1.3 kOhm. The internal inductance is measured at 700 mH. The cartridge is designed to connect with a recommended load resistance of 47 kOhm and a suggested load capacitance of 150 to 300 pF. Weighing in at approximately 7.2 grams, it is lightweight yet sturdy enough for consistent performance.
