The Philips AH 495 is a loudspeaker model produced between 1980 and 1982. This speaker is designed as a three-way system with a net volume of 55 liters. It utilizes a robust 12-inch paper woofer (AD12200) for the low frequencies, a 5 cm dome midrange driver (AD0211) for the mid frequencies, and a 1-inch tweeter (AD0164) for the high frequencies. The crossover frequencies are set at 750Hz and 5500Hz, allowing for effective separation of audio signals across the different frequency ranges. The components used in the construction of the AH 495 are of decent quality, but some users have noted that building standards may not match modern expectations. For instance, the crossover includes electrolytic capacitors that may have degraded over time. Despite these issues, the speaker is appreciated for its midrange performance, attributed to the large dome midrange driver that provides excellent sound dispersion. The total weight of each speaker is approximately 17.7 kg. The AH 495 is part of a series that also includes models such as the AH 482, AH 483, AH 484, AH 489, and AH 494.
