The series comprises two models dedicated to in-wall form, complementing the previously launched wafer™ on-wall models. These models utilize identical technologies, differing only in bass unit size, which in turn affects low-frequency response and maximum SPL capabilities. The wafer2-iw incorporates a 5½ inch bass unit.

Historically, the fidelity of in-wall loudspeakers has suffered from unavoidable design limitations. The wafer-iw series addresses these challenges through numerous innovations unique to PMC, with a sleek and unassuming style that blends seamlessly into any décor. The highly sophisticated and unique internal structure makes use of PMC’s ATL technology, directly descended from the company's professional studio loudspeakers. Each wafer series cabinet features an ultra-shallow H-Line™ interior, which is divided to create a long chamber lined with meticulously chosen acoustic treatments. This approach yields a louder, deeper, and more defined bass extension than conventional designs, delivering a vast, expansive sound from a modest-sized box. Additionally, sound leakage from the rear is minimal, eliminating the need for a back box or additional cavity treatments.

A standout feature of the series is PMC’s TT Technology™ - Twin Tweeter technology. This innovation utilizes Steerable Image techniques, making both horizontal and vertical placement feasible without compromising performance, even if positioned higher or lower than the listener. Standard in-wall designs are often affected by the large surface areas of walls or ceilings. However, PMC’s acoustic specialists have developed the StealthBaffle™, a unique structured and absorbent surface that prevents unwanted reflections from the front baffle and surrounding wall or ceiling, directing pure, untainted audio into the listening space.

Both in-wall models are also compatible with ceiling installations and fit virtually flush to the surface. The slimline grille and frame can be painted to match the chosen décor, ensuring that the loudspeakers deliver exceptional audio performance while remaining visually unobtrusive.
