The Pro-Ject Pre Box RS is a compact and high-performance preamplifier that features a hybrid design combining solid-state circuitry and a vacuum tube output stage, specifically employing two ECC88 (6922) vacuum tubes. This design offers a warm and engaging sound signature reminiscent of classic audio gear. Key features include a fully balanced dual mono design with separate 'mirrored' circuitry for enhanced channel separation and soundstage imaging. The unit offers three balanced XLR inputs, a pre-out, as well as three RCA inputs and an RCA pre-out, providing versatility for both balanced and unbalanced connections. The circuitry operates in Pure Class A mode with ultra-linear characteristics, utilizing low ESR capacitors to minimize distortion and noise. Additionally, the Pre Box RS is equipped with relay input switching, a premium Blue Alps volume control for precise adjustments, and a convenient wireless remote. Its metal casing shields the internal components from vibrations and electromagnetic interference, ultimately contributing to its excellent sound quality. Made in the Czech Republic, the Pre Box RS is available in either black or silver finishes and provides three-dimensional soundstaging, superb micro dynamics, and ultimate resolution.
