The Quadral SM 90 II is a closed 3-way bookshelf speaker that was manufactured between 1981 and 1984 in Germany. It features a compact design with dimensions of 310 x 190 x 210 mm and weighs 4.2 kg. Available in black and brown finishes, this speaker was originally priced at approximately 360 DM. Its connections are a bit unique; the 8-ohm connection is fully switched through a 4-ohm resistor, meaning it does not provide a true 8-ohm connection. As a result, utilizing the 8-ohm connection may result in a somewhat thin sound performance. The speaker is capable of handling power ranging from 60 to 90 watts, supporting both 4-ohm and 8-ohm impedances. The frequency response is notable, spanning from 44 Hz to 22,000 Hz, allowing it to deliver a broad range of sound. However, there may be some usability concerns, as instances have been reported where certain components, such as the mid speaker, may not function properly, while the woofer and tweeter generally remain operational.
