The Sanyo RD-30 is a cassette tape deck produced between 1978 and 1980 in Japan. It features a striking silver finish and was priced approximately at 448 DM upon release. This cassette deck operates on an AC power supply of 120/220V with a frequency of 50/60Hz and has a power consumption of 18W. The recording system utilizes AC bias while the erasing system also employs AC erasure. It has a tape speed of 1-7/8 ips with a slightly adjustable tolerance of +1.5%. The device exhibits a crosstalk of 70dB with Fe203 tape and a channel separation of 40dB. The harmonic distortion rate is noted at 1.2% using Fe203/FeCr tape and the wow and flutter measurement is around 0.08% WRMS. In terms of fast forward and rewind time, it records a performance of 100 seconds for a C-60 cassette.

For input sensitivity and impedance, the microphone input is 0.3mV with 8.6k-ohm, while the line input provides 100mV/100 k-ohm for Fe203 and 1mV/10k-ohm for FeCr/CrO2. The frequency response overall (Dolby OFF) ranges from 30Hz to 12.5kHz. When employing Dolby, the signal to noise ratio reaches up to 58dB. In addition, the RD-30 includes an oscillation frequency of 85kHz. Dimensions of the device are 420 x 145 x 315 mm, and it weighs approximately 6 kg.
