The Stax SRM-700T is a hybrid electrostatic headphone driver that combines solid-state technology with vacuum tube output. It was developed as a step down from the flagship model SRM-T8000. Utilizing a low-noise dual FET for the input stage and a pair of 6SN7 vacuum tubes for the output stage, the SRM-700T aims to offer a warm and spacious sound. The architecture features high slew-rate characteristics with meticulous design elements such as non-inductive winding resistors, high-definition film capacitors, and carefully matched transistor pairs. It provides switchable inputs, RCA and XLR connections, and an EMI-shielded volume control. With dimensions of 240 mm in width, 103 mm in height, and 393 mm in depth, the unit weighs 5.7 kg. Its frequency response range is from DC to 100 kHz, with a gain of 60 dB and harmonic distortion of less than 0.01% at 100 Vrms output. Designed for optimal electrostatic headphone performance, the SRM-700T operates at a bias voltage of 580V and includes features such as RCA parallel output and bypass volume control options, ensuring versatility and compatibility with various audio systems.
