The Teac F-1 is a high-performance tape deck designed with advanced features for exceptional audio fidelity. It utilizes a quartz-locked direct drive motor for the main capstan, ensuring accurate rotational speed regardless of external factors like temperature and voltage fluctuations. The device employs a dual capstan system, where two sets of capstans and pinch rollers securely hold and drive the tape, supported by a complete tension servo mechanism that maintains constant tape tension throughout operation. Notably, it includes a semi-fixed recording head made from high-hardness permalloy which enhances mounting accuracy, and features a full-track erase head. The Teac F-1 is equipped with NAB/BTS equalizer switching, a bias equalizer adjustment integrated into the oscillator, and a tape monitor switch with a CAL position for precise monitoring. Its LED linear counter displays both minutes and seconds, while a pitch control feature allows for a variation of ± 6%. The unit can also connect to the Dbx RX-10 noise reduction system for improved sound quality.
