The Teac V-50 is a cassette tape deck that was manufactured between 1981 and 1984 in Japan. It is designed as a component of the Teac Prism 70 system and features an elegant silver finish. The device operates using an electronically controlled DC motor, which helps achieve quiet operation and reduces uneven rotation. It is equipped with a high-precision permalloy head for recording and playback, as well as a double-gap erase head that can accommodate metal tapes. The V-50 has a logic control system for easier operation, a built-in condenser microphone, and is capable of handling cassette tapes ranging from C-30 to C-90 with a standard tape speed of 4.8 cm/s. Additionally, the model includes a 12-dot bar graph meter with two-color LEDs for monitoring audio levels and utilizes Dolby NRB type noise reduction for improved sound quality. The device is versatile, featuring a three-stage switchable tape selector and an output volume control. The V-50 also supports various tape types, offering frequency responses of 30 - 16,000 Hz for metal tapes and has a signal-to-noise ratio of 57 dB when the noise reduction is off, and 67 dB with Dolby B engaged around 5 kHz. Its compact dimensions include a width of 432 mm, height of 110 mm, and depth of 255 mm, weighing approximately 5.5 kg. The power consumption of the V-50 is 11 W, making it efficient for home audio setups.
