Accuton, manufactured by Thiel & Partner GmbH, was founded in 1994 following the pioneering work of Bernhard Thiel, who invented a process for producing ultra-thin sheets of corundum (Al2O3) in 1984. Initially producing ceramic drivers exclusively for Backes & Müller, Thiel later founded his own company in Homburg, Germany. The modern company emerged when Adrian Bankewitz, European distributor of Accuton products, acquired the assets and established Thiel & Partner GmbH. A significant breakthrough came in 1999 when Bankewitz collaborated with the Fraunhofer Institute to develop the first tweeter with a pure diamond diaphragm using CVD technology. In 2012, Dirk Vaehsen joined as a skilled loudspeaker designer, and became second CEO in 2017. Today, Accuton produces high-end loudspeaker drivers using ceramic, diamond, and aluminum sandwich materials from their production facility in Bexbach, Saarland.
