Sony is expected to release a follow-up to its popular entry-level noise-canceling earbuds, rumored to be called WF-C710N. Enthusiasts are already talking about the fresh look, particularly a transparent “Glass Blue” variant that reveals some of the internal hardware—evoking that nostalgic love for gear that boldly shows its engineering roots. Beyond aesthetics, the overall design might be slightly bigger to accommodate improvements in noise-cancellation tech. The new model is said to feature two microphones for more effective ANC, along with two different transparency modes: a standard setting to amplify ambient sounds broadly and a specialized mode to focus only on voices. Each earbud is supposedly equipped with 5 mm drivers and supports SBC/AAC codecs but not LDAC. Touch-sensitive controls appear to be in place of physical buttons, and there is a proximity sensor intended to pause playback upon removal from the ears. According to leaks, the WF-C710N should last up to 8.5 hours on a single charge with ANC enabled and about 12 hours if noise cancellation is turned off. Factoring in the case, there could be up to 30 hours of total playback before looking for a charger. In terms of durability, an IPX4 rating is reportedly on board, helping protect the earbuds against splashes and light sweat during daily commutes or workouts. Speculation points to a launch date as early as May 2025, potentially around a price of 119 euros. Four color options—Black, White, Pink, and a see-through Glass Blue—are on the table to cater to different tastes. More official details will likely surface closer to release, at which point the exact improvements to noise cancellation, battery life, and overall performance can be fully confirmed.
