Acurus was founded in 1993 by Mondial designs as an affordable alternative to their acclaimed Aragon brand, with involvement from Dan D'Agostino, former CEO of Krell. After Klipsch acquired the brands in 2001 and later mothballed them, Indy Audio Labs (IAL) purchased Aragon and Acurus in mid-2009. IAL was co-founded by Rick Santiago (engineer, audio designer, musician) and Ted Moore (physicist, semiconductor manufacturing specialist) in late 2008. Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, IAL revived both brands with the philosophy 'Accuracy from the U.S.' The company designs and manufactures high-performance immersive processors, preamplifiers, and power amplifiers for home theaters and 2-channel listening, all built and assembled in the USA. Current products include the revolutionary ACT 4 3D-audio processor and precision metalwork done locally by an Indianapolis machine shop that makes parts for Indy racecars.
