Alphason Specialist Audio has heritage dating to the late 1970s when founder Mike Knowles became the UK's youngest Chartered Engineer (1976), with company establishment in 1981. Pioneered the industry's first one-piece head shell and arm tube reference tonearm (HR-100S) using advanced mathematical modeling and bespoke gimbal bearings. Known for the first one-piece titanium arm tube/head shell in the 1980s, earning recognition as the world's leading tonearm manufacturer. Product line expanded to include the Sonata turntable with twin AC motors and cast iron floating subchassis, followed by the Symphony turntable in the 1990s. Currently produces the HR-200S and growing audio equipment range as a family-owned business focused on precision-engineered, technically advanced products at attainable prices.
