AMCRON is the international export brand name used by Crown Audio (Crown International), an American manufacturer of professional audio electronics founded in 1947 by Clarence C. Moore in Elkhart, Indiana. Originally established as International Radio and Electronics Corporation (IREC), the company pioneered groundbreaking innovations including the world's first tape recorder with built-in power amplifier (1949) and the legendary DC-300 amplifier (1967). The AMCRON brand was specifically created to avoid trademark conflicts in international markets, particularly the UK, where another audio brand held the Crown name. Crown Audio is renowned for its professional power amplifiers, with over 60 patents in amplifier technology, serving markets from large stadiums and arenas to portable PA systems. The company was acquired by Harman International in March 2000 and has been part of Samsung Electronics since 2017, continuing to innovate with technologies like DriveCore and the recent ComTech D Series for professional audio applications worldwide.
