Audio Advice is a specialty American consumer electronics retailer founded in 1978 by Leon Shaw in Raleigh, North Carolina, with original partner Ira Dorne. Shaw, a Wake Forest University economics graduate (1976), launched the company after working two years at Sam Goody, opening the first location at Brentwood Square shopping center driven by his passion for high-quality audio reproduction discovered during college. In 1984, Shaw bought out Dorne to become sole owner, and in 1994, Randy Cribb became a part owner, eventually taking over operations when Shaw retired in 2023. For nearly 50 years, Audio Advice has evolved from a classic two-channel stereo dealership into a comprehensive home technology integrator specializing in home audio, home theater, turntables, headphones, and smart home systems. The company operates showrooms in Raleigh (8621 Glenwood Ave) and Charlotte, North Carolina, serving both retail customers and providing custom installation services. With a staff of over 60 members committed to exceptional service, ranging from 30-year veterans to newest team members, Audio Advice maintains its founding mission of delivering the best technology, providing expert guidance, and treating every customer like family. The company has successfully adapted from the stereo era to today's fully connected smart homes while maintaining its core values of passionate customer service and expertise in high-performance audio and home entertainment systems.
