Axiom Audio is a Canadian loudspeaker and home theater system manufacturer founded in 1980 by Ian Colquhoun. The company was initially established as Colquhoun Audio Laboratories Limited near Toronto but relocated in 1983 to Dwight, Ontario, in the Muskoka region. Ian Colquhoun started the company after building his first speakers in a friend's garage in 1979, leveraging research from Canada's National Research Council in Ottawa. The company specializes in designing, engineering, and manufacturing award-winning home theater systems, loudspeakers, and audio equipment. Axiom Audio transitioned from a dealer-based distribution model to direct-to-consumer online sales after their 20th anniversary, which proved highly successful. In recent years, the company has expanded through acquisitions, purchasing a majority stake in Bryston in February 2021 and acquiring Magnum Dynalab in March 2023. The company maintains its Canadian manufacturing base and is known for producing "loud, clean, and accurate home theater systems" with a focus on delivering realistic sound experiences.
