Bryston is a venerable Canadian high-end electronics manufacturer founded in 1962 as a medical equipment company, purchased in 1968 by ex-NASA engineer John W. Russell. The company transitioned to audio manufacturing and became known for exceptional quality amplifiers and preamplifiers. In February 2021, ownership transferred to former VP James Tanner (who joined in 1976 as a firefighter/rescue captain) in partnership with loudspeaker manufacturer Colquhoun Audio. Tanner, now CEO, was recruited by Chris Russell and granted partner status by the mid-1980s. The company operates from Peterborough Ontario, manufacturing legendary 'Made in Canada' products sold through over 150 North American dealers and distributed to 60 countries worldwide. Bryston joined Azione Unlimited following the acquisition and maintains its reputation for reliability and performance under Tanner's passionate leadership, continuing the Russell family legacy while driving innovation in high-performance audio reproduction.
