Focal (formerly JMlab) is a French audio company founded in 1979 that manufactured Carat speakers as part of their historical product line. The company is a world leader in high-fidelity solutions, specializing in home audio loudspeakers, car audio drivers, professional studio monitors, and headphones. Based in Saint-Étienne, France, Focal has been recognized for over 40 years for their 'made in France' expertise and became a member of the prestigious Comité Colbert in 2024. The Micron Carat speakers were small bookshelf speakers featuring evolving tweeter technology, originally using Kevlar domes, then titanium, and finally their proprietary Tioxid coating.
