The C.E.C. CD 5 is a versatile and innovative CD player designed around a unique Belt Drive system. This mechanism aims to minimize acoustic feedback and electromagnetic interference, providing a stable and clear audio playback experience. Unlike traditional CD players that often rely on direct-drive systems, the CD 5 places the spindle motor independently from the turntable's center shaft, reducing vibration and noise. A heavier stabilizer helps ensure a consistent disc rotation, further enhancing playback quality. The CD 5 features a USB input that supports high-resolution audio formats up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD128/5.6MHz, functioning effectively as a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) for computer audio sources. The player is equipped with the ESS Hyper Stream DAC chip (ES9018K2M), which is designed for dynamic musical reproduction and offers users two selectable digital filters for different listening preferences. Outputs include both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connections, as well as digital outputs through COAX and TOSLINK. A large VFD display provides clear information about input status, digital filter conditions, and sampling frequencies. With a robust build, the CD 5 measures 435mm in width, 335mm in depth, and 109mm in height, weighing approximately 10 kg. It is available in silver or black finishes.
