Founded in 1985 by Sally Gibb (originally Sally Kennedy) in Salisbury, England, The Chord Company has evolved from a kitchen-table startup to become an internationally renowned British manufacturer of award-winning audio and video cables, operating from their purpose-built headquarters near historic Stonehenge in Amesbury, Wiltshire. The company's origin story began over dinner with Naim Audio USA retailers who needed a high-quality DIN-to-RCA interconnect cable, prompting Sally, then married to a Naim Audio executive, to suggest creating the cables herself, leading to the first prototype 'Chrysalis Cable' and an initial order of 250 cables for the American market. The name 'Chord Company' was chosen because Americans refer to cables as 'cords' and it had obvious musical connotations, with Sally personally designing the logo and packaging while working with friends at Naim Audio to test and build the initial cables.
