Cybernet Electronics Corporation, a Japanese brand, was a significant player in the HiFi and radio technology market during the 1970s. Known for its high-quality audio components, the company initially focused on manufacturing transistor radios and shortwave receivers.
In the late 1970s, Cybernet expanded its product line to include sophisticated receivers, tuners, and amplifiers, notably introducing products like the Analogtuner CT-22 and the Cybernet Vor-End Kombi in the European market.
Acquisition by Kyocera: In 1979, Kyocera Corporation, led by Kazuo Inamori, acquired Cybernet as part of its diversification into electronic equipment and radio communication technologies. This strategic move aimed to expand Kyocera's business portfolio beyond ceramic packaging. The merger, however, faced challenges due to conflicting loyalties among labor union workers from Cybernet.
Cybernet ceased to exist as an independent entity in 1982, fully merging into Kyocera. Since then, the Cybernet name has existed only as a brand. The company's legacy in the HiFi industry remains notable for its quality components and its contribution to the development of audio technology during its active years.
