Genelec is a world-leading Finnish manufacturer of active loudspeakers and studio monitors, founded on February 17, 1978, by Ilpo Martikainen and Topi Partanen in Helsinki before relocating to their current headquarters in Iisalmi, Finland. Initially created to develop speakers for Finland's national broadcaster YLE, Genelec rapidly expanded internationally with exports growing from 20% in 1980 to 95% in the 1990s.
