IMAX Laser Debuts in Tohoku Region with Grand Opening of AEON Cinema Ezuriko
The Aeon Cinema Ezuriko in Kitakami, Iwate, will open in spring, featuring the Tohoku region's first IMAX Laser theater.
The cinema boasts nine screens, an increase from the seven at Aeon Cinema Kitakami, which will close on March 29.
IMAX Laser technology provides 4K projection with vibrant images, enhanced contrast, and a 12-channel sound system offering immersive auditory experiences.

"Project Hail Mary," a film adaptation of Andy Weir's bestselling novel, premieres March 20, 2026, in Japan and the U.S. simultaneously.
The movie, starring Ryan Gosling, depicts a science teacher's mission to save Earth from a solar energy depletion crisis.
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, with a screenplay by Drew Goddard and cinematography by Greig Fraser.
