Jean-Marie Reynaud (JMR) is a prestigious French loudspeaker manufacturer founded in 1967 by Jean-Marie Reynaud, a trained pianist and music fanatic whose aspiration was to design acoustic speakers capable of reproducing the 'ultimate sound' of live music, particularly stringed instruments performed in intimate settings. Established as one of the first French companies specialized in high-quality acoustic speakers, JMR gained recognition with the legendary Barcolle compact speaker in 1971, which became popular among audiophiles for bringing presence and vitality to music reproduction. Following Jean-Marie's passing in 2011, his son Jean-Claude Reynaud, who joined the company in 2005 after careers as a sound engineer, producer, and musician, became CEO and continues the family legacy of innovation and research. Based in Barbezieux, a small village in southwestern France with 4,000 residents, JMR operates from a 2,000 square meter manufacturing facility with over 21,000 square feet of production space, including a well-equipped laboratory and large-scale acoustic-engineered room for development and testing. The company maintains its artisanal approach with craftsmen who have worked in the business for decades, producing everything in-house at the Saint-Hilaire factory. JMR's current product lineup ranges from the entry-level Bliss speakers ($2,000) to the flagship Concordes ($14,000), including the Jubilé range celebrating the company's 50th anniversary, all designed with the philosophy of delivering the highest quality at realistic prices while refusing to follow technical fads.
