The Kyocera D-601 is a cassette tape deck that was manufactured between 1982 and 1985 in Japan. It features a sleek silver/gray exterior with wood side panels, combining aesthetics with functionality. With a power consumption of 16 watts, the D-601 measures 460 mm in width, 114 mm in height, and 310 mm in depth, weighing in at 7 kg. The device supports a 4-track, 2-channel system, utilizing two audio heads for recording and playback made of Sendust, and a ferrite erase head. It operates at a tape speed of 4.75 cm/s and employs three motors: a direct drive double capstan servo motor for playback, a DC servo motor for rewinding, and another for the cassette compartment. The D-601 is equipped with features such as a digital counter, MPX noise reduction, and timer recording/playback capabilities. It supports Dolby B and C noise reduction, offering a signal-to-noise ratio of 78 dB under Dolby C and a frequency response that reaches up to 22 kHz for metal tapes.
