The Kyocera D-801 is a stereo cassette deck that was introduced in 1982 and remained in production until 1985. It features Dolby B and C noise reduction systems, enhancing audio quality by minimizing tape hiss. The deck utilizes a double direct drive dual-capstan transport mechanism, allowing for precise tape handling. It incorporates a manual tape type selection for normal, chrome, and metal tapes, ensuring versatility in playback and recording. The D-801 is equipped with a 4-digit electronic linear tape counter and a memory stop function for ease of use. Front-loading design places the cassette compartment on the left side, and mechanical tape eject allows for straightforward operation. The deck has generic digital peak reading level meters, which help monitor audio levels accurately. Full-logic transport controls provide responsive operation, enabling quick selection of playback functions. It also features a switchable multiplex filter to prevent interference when recording FM stereo broadcasts, ensuring fidelity. Additionally, the D-801 includes two microphone inputs for live recordings and a headphone jack for private listening. RCA connectors facilitate connection to other audio equipment for playback and recording.
