Founded in 2000 by Dan Wright in Amboy, Washington, ModWright Instruments began as a hobby modification business in Wright's basement, specializing in upgrading digital products before evolving into a respected high-end audio manufacturer. Wright, educated as a Mechanical Engineer, started as an audio enthusiast modifying D/A converters and CD players, initially focusing on Sony and Oppo SACD and DVD players with valve analog stages and improved power supplies. The company gained worldwide acclaim through its Truth series modifications utilizing tube analog stages, leading to the transition from modifications to designing and manufacturing original equipment. Headquartered at 21919 NE 399th St., Amboy, WA 98601, ModWright now hand-assembles all products in their USA production facility under Wright's leadership as CEO and chief design engineer. The company's evolution includes launching the 9.0 series preamplifiers in 2003 and introducing the KWA 150 amplifier in 2009 to complete a full ModWright system. Specializing in high-end audio equipment including headphone amplifiers, power amplifiers, preamplifiers, DACs, phono stages, and digital modifications, ModWright emphasizes the philosophy that 'a quality listening experience should feel amazing, in addition to sounding amazing.' The company has established itself through innovative hybrid designs combining tube and solid-state technologies, with all products proudly bearing 'Designed and handcrafted in U.S.A. by ModWright Instruments, Inc.' Today, ModWright leverages Wright's design expertise alongside industry-leading circuit designers to serve discerning audiophiles worldwide with products embodying elegance, simplicity, and truth in audio reproduction while maintaining the artisanal quality that defines American high-end audio manufacturing.
