Mordaunt Short

Mordaunt-Short is a historic British loudspeaker manufacturer founded in 1967 by Rodney Short and Peter Comeau, representing the finest traditions of British loudspeaker engineering. After facing closure in November 1998, the brand was rescued by Audio Partnership plc (manufacturing division of Richer Sounds Group) in December 1998, which acquired it from TGI plc. The company was once known for high-quality bookshelf and floorstanding speakers, home theater systems, subwoofers, and surround sound systems crafted by over thirty engineers and designers. However, operations have significantly scaled back from their historical prominence. Currently, Audio Partnership concentrates primarily on their Cambridge Audio range, with Mordaunt-Short now offering only limited entry-level bookshelf speakers that are essentially rebranded Cambridge Audio products. The brand maintains a website presence and continues support for existing products, but represents a shadow of its former comprehensive product lineup and market position.
