The Nakamichi Amplifier 1 is an integrated amplifier that prioritizes sound quality, leveraging harmonic time alignment technology to enhance audio fidelity. Developed by Steve Kalison at the Nakamichi US Research Center, this technology aims to tackle the complexity of negative feedback (NFB) in audio systems by ensuring that the timing of fundamental sounds and their distortion components are properly aligned. Featuring a newly designed amplifier circuit for both preamplifier and power amplifier sections, it utilizes a wide-band, low-gain open-loop design that stabilizes the amount of NFB within the audio band and minimizes its overall impact. The amplifier employs discrete components in its line amplifier section, allowing for the integration of high-quality parts that enhance frequency characteristics. Key components include a motor-driven main volume control and a motor-driven rotary selector, as well as an emphasis on superior electrolysis capacitors. The power amplifier section is robust, housing eight transistors configured in parallel, capable of a peak current supply of 28A. An advanced multi-regulated power supply system isolates different sections to prevent interference, with unique transformer windings for the preamp, power amplifier, and control sections. An isolated ground system further minimizes noise interference. The Amplifier 1 is equipped with a high-gain equalizer amplifier featuring a transistor differential input, alongside a CD direct input and a dedicated 4-connected volume system. Additional features include tone control, a muting circuit, and remote control functionality, allowing users to adjust volume and switch inputs effortlessly. Separate signal converters and connecting cables are offered to facilitate remote connections with other Nakamichi audio equipment.
