Founded in 1948 by Etsuro Nakamichi as Nakamichi Research Corporation Ltd in Tokyo, Japan. Initially manufactured portable radios, tonearms, speakers, and communications equipment, but gained legendary status for cassette tape decks from 1972. Introduced world's first three-head cassette deck (1000 and 700 models, 1973) and the famous Nakamichi Dragon (1982-1994) with bidirectional replay and automatic azimuth correction. Filed for bankruptcy in 2002, later acquired by Chinese holding company Nimble Holdings. Currently operates as Nakamichi International (Hong Kong-based) producing home cinema systems, sound bars, speakers, headphones, automotive stereo, and DVD products. Maintains global presence including Singapore, China, Europe, Middle East, and United States.
