Today, April 28, 2025, marks the official launch of Nothing’s latest trio of wireless headphones under the CMF brand: Buds 2, Buds 2 Plus, and Buds 2a. Set to hit the shelves on May 6, these models cater to a range of audiophile preferences while maintaining an accessible price point.
The Buds 2 feature 11mm drivers enhanced with Dirac Opteo tuning, delivering clear and balanced sound suitable for daily use. Equipped with 48dB Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) operating in the 5,200Hz range, these earbuds offer up to 13.5 hours of playback without ANC and extend to 55 hours with the charging case. Additionally, the IP55 rating ensures resilience against dust and water, making them a reliable choice for various environments.
Stepping up, the Buds 2 Plus offer significant upgrades for just $10 more. They boast 12mm drivers and support the LDAC codec, providing high-fidelity audio that meets Hi-Res Audio standards. The ANC in the Plus model is slightly enhanced to 50dB within a 5,400Hz range, outperforming comparable models. With a battery life of up to 14 hours on a single charge and 61.5 hours total, the Buds 2 Plus are ideal for extended listening sessions. The inclusion of Smart Adaptive Mode and low-latency capabilities further enhances their appeal for both casual listeners and audiophiles.
For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, the Buds 2a present a compelling choice. Priced $10 lower than the base model, they feature 12.4mm drivers tuned with Dirac technology and offer ANC at 42dB using four microphones. While their battery life is reduced to 8 hours per charge and 35.5 hours with the case, the Buds 2a still provide robust performance with IP54 water resistance, making them suitable for everyday use without breaking the bank.
All three models can be customized via the Nothing X app, allowing users to adjust EQ settings, activate Ultra Bass, switch ANC levels, and utilize multi-point connectivity. With their blend of technical excellence and thoughtful design, Nothing’s new CMF Buds 2 lineup is poised to make a significant impact in the wireless headphone market upon their release next week.
